If a user make a typo in their email address upon signup, they must recreate their account. This could cause customer turnover in some cases. It would be great to be able to fix the email address in stripe then have it sync back to subbly.
Now achievable by logging in as the customer from the admin
As an update on this, still yet to hear a secure way of handling this, open to suggestions. As of just now best way is to inform the customer of the incorrect email they used and then they can attempt to login.
Allowing free editing of emails could leave room for error:
- People posing as other customers to gain access to their accounts
- Incorrect customer having their email changed
- Account hijacking etc
@Stefan Pretty: All valid concerns, but there must be a way to do this from the admin side.
The customer that initially caused me to submit this request seems pretty computer illiterate. I had to send him a note with his subscription box telling him to contact me because his email address on file was incorrect (was getting bouncebacks due to unknown recipient). He contacted me via email eventually and I told him to update his email address on his account, as described above. He did, but even that was incorrect. This isn't his real address, but he basically added the .com to the wrong part of his email, like: user.com@gmail.
If you prefer to handle email address corrections through a support message, I'm more than happy to do that, but it also adds strain to your support staff (I'm looking out for you, Andrija :) )
@Zach Armstrong: this is already possible, the customer just needs to go into their settings when they login to change it. However it will not update in Stripe as of just now, it will update in Subbly though. The issue might be they don't know how to login if they type their email address wrong
Maybe we can remedy the latter by allowing you guys to edit the email addresses in the admin?
@Stefan Pretty: Sounds good to me. At least we can change when customer contacts us.
@Stefan Pretty: Yes good point about security, but it does happen so need to change them some how.
@Stefan Pretty: Over all goal? Reduce all the paper work by automating membership renewals and reduce people missing payments etc. That's why I investigated subbly and suggested it to my committee. Saves heaps of time and money.
@Tracey Lees: How do you guys handle this just now? If a customer contacts you, do you inform them of the incorrect email they signed up with so they can login?
My biggest concern is security and peoples accounts being hijacked by simply changing their email and then doing password reset request.
@Stefan Pretty: We have just finished setting up subbly, so haven't tried it yet. Right now it's manually done by our executive officer, our database is in mail chimp. Next task on my plate is figuring out how to import them into subbly :)
@Tracey Lees: There is no import facility, what is you goal?
@Tracey Lees: Ok awesome, send a message to support inside the admin through the chat widget (bottom right then "chat with us") or an email to [email protected] we can discuss further there!
@Stefan Pretty: ok. sorry
@Tracey Lees: Maybe best to email support and we can pick it up from there rather than pollute the feedback boards
@Tracey Lees: No need to apologise, just don't want people getting too many notifications and going off topic here 😁
