Yes, please! We would like to be able to automatically charge 5% GST (in Canada) as it would be much better than having to include it in our price.
Integrating with taxjar would be useful for the US -- let them do all the calculations for you (I believe). Taxes in the US can be stupidly complicated. For example, in my state of Colorado, we are a destination-based tax state, so only my customers in Colorado are taxed, and they are assessed different taxes based on where they live... Gets complicated way fast!
This would be a game changer for us!
Just a note to say that in UK only, some of us may be including items in our boxes that are zero VAT rated, therefore a standard calculation (20%) would not work for us. Could this be a 'switch on/off' function please?
@Shirley Crawford: This would make matters much complex as we would need to be able to track every single product and it's value per shipment. Which doesn't make much sense as often times the retail price of items in a subscription box are greater than the price of the box itself.
Unless you're saying you want the ability to turn VAT off for the entire product / box. In which case we can but it would be applicable to the entirety of the subscription as of just now.
Does that make sense? Would that work for you?
@Stefan Pretty: we're happy with the 'AS IS', current state. Basically a standard VAT breakdown may not work for us (this will depend on box contents for that month). Thanks! Shirley
Would be great for us in the UK to have VAT auto-calculated into their/our receipts
@Joshua Beeston: Thanks! Just updated the post to mention VAT as well :)
Rolled out beta feature for US, UK, CA and AUS. Let us know if you have any feedback. 🤘
@Stefan Pretty: That's brilliant - I can't find where you mean though! Is there a place now where you can save the invoices with tax break down for accounting purposes? Are we able to put in our VAT numbers too?
@Joshua Beeston: VAT numbers are available to be verified for UK stores. It doesn’t display on the orders/receipts just yet but it’s an easy switch. Find settings for tax under settings -> tax
@Joshua Beeston: no, it’s just the ability to calculate tax and charge the customer. It is included on receipts and order slips (invoices)
